Marine Insurance

Shipping your personal belongings overseas is not your typical cross-town or even cross-country move. International relocation is a move that passes through many hands and various obstacles from the time your belongings are picked up at your home, shipped overseas, and delivered to your new residence. |
Insure your household goods and personal effects with marine insurance.
When moving to Brazil, your household goods will be transported by trucks and ship and may be exposed to turbulence on the open sea as they are transported to your new home in Brazil.
Marine insurance helps guard against costs associated with loss and / or damage to your belongings.
“All Risk” insurance protects all of your insured goods from the time they leave your home in the U.S. to the time they arrive at your new home in Brazil. Whether your belongings are lost or damaged along the way, “All Risk” insurance will cover your belongings.
“All Risk” coverage is only available to individuals who choose to have professional international movers pack their household goods.
“Limited Risk” insurance is another type of insurance to protect your personal belongings;
This coverage is for loss of belongings – not damage.
Individuals who choose to pack themselves are only eligible for “Limited Risk” coverage.
In order to secure marine insurance coverage, you will need to fill out a “declared value” form.
This form lists all the items you are insuring in addition to the cost of each insured item.
The cost of goods might be higher in Brazil, due to the cost of imports
Make sure to list the declared value of the items you want to insure at their replacement value in Brazil.
The documentation needs to be accurate, so fill out everything carefully.
