Packing Guide

IntlMOVE Brazil can pack your household goods before moving them to Brazil so your items are safe during their international shipment.
When you are relocating internationally, it’s important to have dependable international movers.

IntlMOVE Brazil can supply packing materials and handle your furniture and household goods with care while they are being packed, loaded, transported and shipped to Brazil.

Some shippers decide to pack their personal belongings on their own, so IntlMOVE Brazil put together some guidelines to help you with the process.

  • Towels, clothing and linen should be folded and packed in boxes or dresser drawers.
  • Keep rugs and carpets safe. Roll them up as tightly as possible. Cover the rugs and carpets with plastic wrap to guard against damage.
  • Special packing materials are available for mirrors and artwork, which need to be packed carefully.
  • Boxes should not be overflowing, so never over pack your boxes – they should never bulge at the top – they should be stackable.
  • Fill larger items with smaller items to fill in extra space in boxes.
  • Make sure to leave extra room in the box for padding for fragile household goods. Use 3 inches of padding, in the form of paper or bubble wrap, at the top and bottom of each box.
  • Books and other heavy materials should be packed in small boxes. One person should be able to lift a box, so keep weight in mind when packing.
  • To create a sturdier box, double tape the bottom.
  • For fragile items, place 3 inches of paper on the top and bottom of the box for padding. Wrap each vase, glass bowl or other fragile item separately in bubble wrap or paper to keep it from breaking.
  • Plates are fragile, so place them vertically in boxes to help keep them safe. Place 2 inches of paper or bubble wrap between each plate.
  • Separate lamps from lampshades and remove the bulbs. Save on wrapping paper by wrapping lamps in linens. Wrap lamp shades and lamps separately.
  • Avoid shipping items that will hold you up in customs. Firearms, toxic substances and liquids should never be placed in international shipments.  (Some countries will allow Firearms but have strict regulations and procedures to follow – check with the embassy or consulate for these rules.)
  • When contemplating shipping your car to Brazil, first check to see if you can! Many countries have restrictions or will only allow members of the foreign diplomatic corps to bring in a vehicle.
